Nehemiah Project

“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” -Proverbs 29:18

Here at St. Matthew AME Church, we are blessed to have a shepherd who has an incredible vision. Part of that vision has been to rebuild the walls of the church under “The Nehemiah Project”. What started as a project to rebuild the physical structure of the church, has blossomed into also working on rebuilding the spiritual life of the church and restoring God’s people within and outside of the walls of St. Matthew.
Completed projects:
  • Roof repaired
  • Bell tower leak repaired
  • Front and side door entrance steps repaired
  • Ceiling near ramp repaired
  • New toilets installed in restrooms adjacent to nurses office
  • Installation of new middle railings to front and side doors
  • Geotechnical Engineering study of parking lot
  • Air conditioner overhaul
  • Heater/Boiler repaired
  • Purchase of digital sound system
  • Sanctuary pews and carpet steam cleaned
  • Cross lights in the sanctuary upgraded
  • Lights in Sconces upgraded
  • Repainting of the Sanctuary
  • New parking lot completed
  • Installation of new parking lot gate
Projects to be completed:
  • Renovation of the Women’s restroom
  • Renovation of the Men’s restroom
  • Undercroft overhaul
  • Multipurpose room overhaul
